Why no one raises The hand to become a Farmer?
"It is thus with farming, If you do one thing late, You will be late in all your works.” -Anonymous.
It is obvious in India that most of the teachers ask the students about their ambition. 99% of the students answer that, either an engineer or a doctor. Till now, none of the student answered that he/she wants to be a farmer.
Day by day people are moving away from agriculture. They doesn’t even know that agriculture is life. Parents of the present generation also doesn’t want their children to be a farmer instead they want them to be an engineer or a doctor. Why are all deciding to move away from agriculture? Answer is clear,because they have seen a dreadful life! Yes ,today farming is a story of defeat! Their is no proper rain, and farmers don’t even know about modern technologies for storage and supply of water.
Even if by chance, if a farmer gets a good yeild still he fails in marketing. Unexpectedly government takes no initiative to help them. Farmers invest a lot on their farmland, but there is no good yeild,and not even a single rupee has come to his hands. Keeping this situation in mind which father will want his son to become a farmer? Our system is also the same. They don’t allow the farmers to cultivate their crops in a proper manner.They pay them cheap rate for their grains and expect them to grow the best. And the facilities provided to farmers are of poor quality. Government attracts the farmer in the name of loan waiving at the election times and then forgets everything! Now imagine the situation of a farmer… We have lots of technologies for improvement of agriculture but our government has failed to make it reach the farmers. Sometimes government waives the loan. Will the govt. waive it everytime? No, The loan made by the farmers in the belief that the govt will waive it, is just of vain. So they fall in debt, fail to repay it and finally the farmer commits suicide. A child coming from such a family will never think to be a farmer even in its dream. This is the history of our farmers. This is the only reason for people to move away from agriculture. Even the schools do not motivate the students to become a farmer. In higher studies too there is only a little importance. If a student does higher agriculture related degrees he may not bring changes in agriculture instead he will be thinking of getting a job soon.After all these circumstances which student will raise his hand to become a farmer!
